What is an Algae Omega Supplement? An algae-o-phyte supplement is an essential dietary supplement. There are a wide variety of available supplements in the market. The question is, will these algae supplements have any effect on our pet fish? This article will explain the role of these supplements in a general way.

The word Algae comes from the genus Hydrocharitaceae and contains three main members; sulfated, sulfate-free and non-sulfate. The algae belongs to this family are usually green in color, but some species are colored red, purple, orange and brown. The algae omega that are fed on by fish contain high concentrations of nutrients such as protein, vitamins, minerals and salts. These nutrients are essential in their growth and health; however, the feeding process also consumes the organic components such as protein, minerals and salts, which in turn are reduced in the quality of the fish oil supplement.

The feeding process starts with the digestion of organic materials from the fish feedstock. This is called oxidation. The oxidation process releases free radicals and other toxins in the form of gas and other elements. These toxins are harmful to the fish health. The feeding process also destroys the fatty tissues and skeletal parts in the fish. In the process of oxidation, there is a loss of energy that results in low temperature and water clarity.

If there is a continuous lack of feedstock in the tank, the algae will grow rapidly and the efficiency of the whole process is disrupted. The Algae consume the organic materials, using the carbon compounds as a source of food. The algae consumes the organic compounds in the feedstock thereby causing depletion of the nutrients and consequently the fish die. The Algae have the ability to multiply rapidly and thus in the end, kill the fish. In such situation, the only solution is to add more feedstock.

However, adding more feedstock is not always the solution as it may increase the load in the filtering system. Hence, if you want to use Algae-O-MAT supplement for your pets, then you should take care before adding it. You should first calculate how much feedstock you would need to feed your fish. Add only what is required and do not add any extra feedstock unless specified by the manufacturer. This will ensure that there is no deficiency of nutrients in the water and at the same time, there will be an increased rate of oxidation of the feedstock resulting in a faster growth of the algae.

You should also check for the amount of algae in the gills of the fish. If the algae are more than 2 cm in diameter then there are chances of there being a contamination in the tank. This means that the feedstock might be contaminated with toxic algae and the health of your pets would be at risk. The best way to remove the contamination is by boiling the water and using the collected water to clean the feedstock. The same can be done for the removal of ammonia from the feedstock.

Algae need dark and oxygen-rich water to survive. So, when you add Algae-O-MAT supplement to the water you can also make sure that the light quality in the aquarium is also improved. As algae grow fast, you should also keep an eye on the temperature of the water as it should be a comfortable temperature for your fish. The growth rate of the algae should be monitored periodically to check for drastic changes. If the temperature of the water is too low, it is better to add some dissolved oxygen so that the oxygen level in the tank is maintained properly.

Algae-O-MAT supplement for pets can also be used in place of commercial cleaner. It has the capacity to break down the debris of the algae without affecting the quality of the supplements. You can simply use the supplement like a mouth wash to get rid of the algae in your aquarium. It is a very powerful cleaner and does not contain any toxic chemicals. It is also safe for both plants and animals.
